Ozark Outdoors and Earth’s Classroom come together to bring you an educational adventure like no other! Earth’s Classroom professional instructors will present you with a hands-on education in canoeing skills, river dynamics, and all aquatic & terrestrial life forms associated with the Meramec Drainage Basin corridor! Enjoy the day exploring the high biodiversity and rich geological features (caves, springs, fens, etc) it has to offer. This learning opportunity is exhilarating for all ages. Trips include a 1 hour long canoe paddling and safety course by a MO State Whitewater Champion, snorkels, brief snorkeling instruction, canoes, paddles, PFDs, nets, seines, aquariums, and an ecological education unlike any other!

ZONE DESCRIPTIONS

Zone 1: On the Courtois River:  Berryman to Misty Valley—4.6 miles; moderate canoeing, but beginners welcomed.  This trip is a favorite of Earth’s Classroom; a gorgeous tributary to the Huzzah.  May drag in places, crystal clear waters, gorgeous small bluffs, great for snorkeling, quiet!

Zone 2:  On the Courtois River:  Butts Slab to Courtois Primitive Area—5.0 miles; moderate canoeing, but beginners welcomed.  Gorgeous fast runs, beautiful snorkeling holes, cave ecology taught!

Zone 3:  On the Courtois River, Huzzah River, and Meramec River:  Courtois Primitive Area to Ozark Outdoors Riverfront Resort—5.6 miles; moderate to beginner canoeing, a great diversity in paddling, starts out with lots of turns, ends with the wider Meramec River.  Lots of life to catch in this section!

Zone 4:  On the Huzzah River:  Harpers Slab to Hwy 8—5.5 miles; moderate canoeing, but beginners welcomed.  An absolutely gorgeous section and filled with adventurous turns.  Exquisite bluffs and holes with great snorkeling and swimming areas.  More paddling than other zones, but quiet!

Zone 5:  On the Meramec River:  Bluffs to Ozark Outdoors Riverfront Resort—9.9 miles; easier canoeing for beginners but more of it, longest paddling zone. Quieter section of the Meramec.  Spring branches and nice bluff lines will be passed.  Lots of life to catch and teach about.

Zone 6:  On the Meramec River:  Ozark Outdoors Riverfront Resort to Campbell Bridge—4.9 miles; great for beginners, easiest and most relaxing of all zones.  Great wildlife to catch!

We ask that you make reservations in advance.
Trip minimums must be met. If not met, you can reschedule for another trip, if another date does not work for you we will refund your reservation fee. Maximum 30 participants per trip, call for availability.
